Launching the consultation process for and drafting of a City Charter for Toronto

Introduction of new luxury home taxation – the Toronto Prosperity Tax (amount TBD), policies and programs as part of the “Building Brand Toronto” project aimed at improving the daily life of Torontonians and fortifying our municipal autonomy and local industries

If elected, I commit to:

Review of predatory residential rental practices and appropriate recourse (i.e. ending bidding wars on rental units)

Appropriate investment in Toronto Shelter and Support Services, and review of protocols in shelter management, design and programming

Action item creation around the implementation of a Micro Shelter Project

Financial and communications support for the NORC Innovation Centre (NORC = Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities – I actually live in one!)

Reallocation of Percent for Public Art funding from development projects from art to community garden projects (and preferably an even greater amount given, percentagewise)

If elected, I commit to:

Investment in harm reduction and mental health services including a review of emergency response protocols

Pausing and re-strategizing the plans to upgrade subway operations and safety measures including building of platform edge doors (PEDs)

Strengthen City communications, funding and outreach support around gender-based violence and intimate partner violence

Development of a city-wide Cycling Safety Program and review of current plans for new lanes to ensure maximum use

Review of process for, and efficiency of, City response to emergencies and urgent matters including flooding, broken glass and graffiti in neighbourhoods, power outages and snow/ice management

Support for mental health communications and programming

If elected, I commit to:

Initiating the “Building Brand Toronto” project, a cross-industry, city-wide endeavour to create civic pride, bolster our local economy and attract visitors and newcomers

Enhancement of city-owned grocery store plan to include support for existing neighbourhood green grocers

Incentivization of local hospitality spaces to use Toronto-based suppliers

Incentives for shopping (consumers) and stocking (retailers) local goods

If elected, I commit to:

Financial, logistical and marketing support for the creation of new tree canopies in key areas of the city; community garden greenhouses; pollinator gardens; and urban farming projects

Creation of a moratorium action around the expansion of existing and development of new datacentres until accountability and enforceable regulations have been introduced

Introduction of a Tick Task Force to address the increasing presence of ticks in Toronto’s parks

Creation of new Summer cooling and play areas, including pools and shaded gathering spaces conducive to recreational activities of all kinds

If elected, I commit to:

Review of City Hall budget to determine how better to spend our money

Introducing a local media program to generate more connectivity between ward community members and their councillors, and between residents themselves

Launching a City Hall podcast and more robust newsletter/social media strategy for both residents and visitors

Improvement of the public consultation process

If elected, I commit to:

Creation of one-way streets where there are two lanes and street parking

HOV lane creation for downtown core

Fundraising for the development of three large-scale parking lots to be built by 2028 to remove street parking and improve urban cycling

If elected, I commit to:

Development of a city-wide Recreational Learning Program that will enhance connectivity between cultural centres and communities

Introduction of the Interventions program, a City curatorial team-led initiative to work with local artists to create educational responsive artworks at contested mounments

Development of a plan for the creation of the Scarborough Centre for the Arts

Free consistent music programming city-wide

Support for community festivals

Introduction of Art studios into shelters and other temporary housing spaces

Development of new cultural festivals including week-long visual art programming, a Queer performing arts festival, and a World Piano Weekend in honour of Toronto’s legacy on the keys

Creation of potable water fountains across Toronto to fill water bottles and wash hands

Creation of a community-led group to review and steward the City’s accessibility commitments

Collaborative development of a City Hall-hosted accessibility portal and subsidizing of mobility products to local businesses

Redevelopment of city-wide wayfinding
