I want to be a FRESH voice at City Hall – one who advocates for all the citizens of Toronto. How will I do this? Through my platform and policy concepts, some of which are currently listed below; this list will be updated as my campaign progresses. Have an idea to share? Email me here.

Fiscal Rehabilitation and Growth

  • Review of City Hall budget to determine how better to spend our money

  • Begin consultations and draft of City Charter for Toronto to fortify our city and enact municipal autonomy

  • Introduction of new luxury home taxation, policies and programs under the “Building Brand Toronto” Project aimed at improving the daily life of Torontonians and fortifying our municipal autonomy and local industries

  • Incentives for shopping (consumers) and stocking (retailers) local goods

Recreation As A Priority

  • Review of the planning and management of Toronto’s outdoor spaces

  • Investment in meaningful third spaces, particularly outside the downtown core

  • Development of a city-wide Recreational Learning Program that will enhance connectivity between cultural centres and communities

  • Creation of new Summer cooling and play areas, including pools and shaded gathering spaces conducive to recreational activities of all kinds

Environmental Action and Future-proofing the City

  • Review of all municipally-directed regular and seasonal actions (snow removal, flood response)

  • Creation of: new tree canopies in key areas of the city; community garden greenhouses; urban farming projects

  • Creation of a moratorium action around the expansion of existing and development of new datacentres until accountability and enforceable regulations have been introduced

  • Introduction of a Tick Task Force to address the increasing presence of ticks in Toronto’s parks

Safe and Healthy Communities

  • Investment in harm reduction and mental health services including a review of emergency response protocols

  • Pausing and re-strategizing the plans to upgrade subway operations and safety measures including building of platform edge doors (PEDs)

  • Strengthen City communications, funding and outreach support around gender-based violence and intimate partner violence

  • Development of a city-wide Cycling Safety Program

  • Creation of a community-led group to review and steward the City’s accessibility commitments

  • Creation of potable water fountains across Toronto to fill water bottles and wash hands

Housing For All

  • Review of predatory residential rental practices and appropriate recourse (i.e. ending bidding wars on rental units)

  • Appropriate investment in Toronto Shelter and Support Services, and review of protocols in shelter management, design and programming

  • Advocating for a Micro Shelter Pilot Project to be implemented ASAP

  • Development of more NORCs (Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities)
